Last week (05.12.18) we had the pleasure to meet and discuss our FOSS4SMEs project with FOSS activist from Thessaloniki, Greece Mr. Efstathios Iosifidis. Mr. Iosifidis, who is working as a veterinarian and Farm Animal Manager is engaged with FOSS since 2006. He co-founded the Greek openSUSE community (July 2010), he is an openSUSE member and GNOME Foundation member, an ONLYOFFICE and Nextcloud contributor and he is involved closely with many Greek and international FOSS communities. Lately he has even entered a technical high school in order to receive a degree in Informatics.
Mr. Iosifidis is one of the most engaged Greek FOSS advocates supporting the open source idea by publishing articles and social media posts, by coordinating translations in the Greek language for projects like GNOME, Nextcloud, ownCloud, by translating for projects like GNU Health, ONLYOFFICE, Libreoffice, Englightenment, Fedora Project, MATE Environment, XFCE, Ubuntu etc. and by organising and participating in release parties, meetups, summer camps and conferences in Greece and abroad. For example, he participated in the last pan-hellenic Greek FOSS conference called “FOSSCOMM 2018” with three presentations. Our project team is looking forward to a future cooperation with Mr. Iosifidis within FOSS4SMEs project and to participating in the next GUADEC (GNOME conference) that will be hosted in Thessaloniki, where he is one of the organisers.
